Fair WOD-KAN engine of growth of the industry
May 26 2015 is the starting date of the 23rd International Fair of Machines and Facilities for Water Supply and Sewage Systems WOD-KAN 2015 held in Bydgoszcz, traditionally drawing water sector companies both from Poland and abroad. The event will be held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Mrs Maria Wasiak, and the Secretary of the State of the Ministry for the Environment, Mr Stanisław Gawłowski.
Poland's joining the EU launched foreign funds, releasing the energy and the will to make changes across the entire water sector. Starting in the year 2003, a total of over PLN 60 milliard has been spent on the water management and water protection (districts' and businesses' own funds plus EU subsidies). The total amount spent on the construction of water intakes and water supply systems, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of water treatment stations was PLN 16 milliard.
According to the IGWP's data, 194.1 thousand kilometres of the water supply network and 106.2 thousand kilometres of the sewage network were built in Poland from the year 1990 to 2013. Since 1995, the number of biological treatment plants and plants with increased removal of biogenic substances has risen notably. As a result, we can enjoy good tap water and better water in rivers and lakes. The condition of the natural environment is also improving.
First started in the year 1993, the Exhibition has become the driving force behind the development of the water sector. It presents new technologies and world-class equipment and its target addressees are members of the water industry and local governments. The exhibitors include both domestic and foreign producers and/or solution providers.
The Event is accompanied by conferences dealing with the most important issues of the water industry, organised by exhibitors and the IGWP itself. A special Fairs Feast event is also organised for exhibitors.
Traditionally, the Fairs are each year accompanied by competitions with prizes awarded for the most interesting exhibition display and the Grand Prix Statue Award for the most innovative technical solution. The prize helps to build the brand recognition across the industry.
The very good reputation of the Fairs is the result of the over twenty years of work invested by the IGWP. Today, the Fairs have that unique atmosphere of celebration and the joy of meeting your friends, as well as giving participants the sense that they participate in an important event which contributes to the development of the entire country.
As every year, the Event in Bydgoszcz will be attended by representatives of the Parliament, as well as the representatives of the water sector and state institutions related to the industry, such as the National Water Management Authority (KZGW), Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKIK) and National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW). Among the guests will be the Minister for the Environment, Mr Maciej Grabowski, who has confirmed his attendance at the event, also will be representatives of water companies, representatives of the city's and region's authorities.
